Where are the UTM parameters?
If you are using UTM parameters to track campaigns they will be typically passed over to an analytics app, such as Google Analytics. Here is an article that explains this in more detail.
However, SchoolMint Connect is also storing this data, but at the student level. This means that anytime an SchoolMint Connect form is completed and the user accessed that page via a URL containing relevant UTM parameters, those parameters will be stored against the names(s) of the students entered on the form.
Why is this important?
By tracking these parameters at the student level, you will have a better understanding of what campaigns are driving families to take action.
For example, if you ran a campaign on social media to register for your Annual School Tour and drove traffic to the Inquiry Event Registration page on your school website, you could understand how many leads came in for that specific campaign.
Example of a URL
Event Registration page: https://www.schoolwebsite/school_tours
if we use the following UTM Parameters as an example
-
UTM Source: facebook
-
UTM Medium: social
-
UTM Campaign: school_tour
-
UTM Term: sorrento_grammar
-
UTM Content: ad_1
Best way is to use Google Analytics Campaign URL Builder - for generating URLs to websites. For example:
Will generate a final URL like this:
https://www.schoolwebsite/school_tours?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=school_tour&utm_term=sorrento_grammar&utm_content=ad_1
This URL would be attached to your display ad or text link and will track all the way through to Google Analytics or SchoolMint Connect.
